Pure white

This week’s photo challenge from the Daily Post is Pure.

There are lots of shades of white.  The white of these sheep’s fleeces may not be the purest shade.  They were very inquisitive sheep and lined up to take a good look at the two people walking through their field back in March.

Sheep are connected with purity in Christianity.  (I am uncertain how they are regarded by prople of other faiths.)  In Old Testament times they were used for sacrifices.  There are many references to sheep in the New Testament.  Jesus Christ is referred to as the Lamb of God.

In the General Confession from the Book of Common Prayer we say, “We have erred and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep”.
