Steam trains have Numbers

The Daily Post photo challenge is for numbers.  We can’t get away from them, can we?  Lots of things have numbers as well as names.  This photo from April 2016 shows the number of a steam engine, The Royal Scot.  Another set of numbers describes the arrangement of the wheels.

  1. Great photo! I adore steam trains. We have a station near us at Toddington where they preserve and restore steam trains. They give rides through the Cotswolds almost every weekend in summer and it is wonderful.

    1. I had forgotten that steam trains were in regular service when we were children. I think one pulled a train from Calais to Milan as our school trip was en route to Rome. I’m sure British Rail had modernised by then. Sue
