K is for Kingcup

This is my post for the letter K in the Blogging from A to Z in April Challenge.  My theme is plants.

A kingcup is also known as a marsh marigold.  It is a water-plant, which flowers in the spring.  I cannot remember seeing any in the south of England, but I am aware of them in the North.  We do not have a water feature in our garden, so I had to go elsewhere in the village to take the photo.

It flowers in the late spring.

Its name describes the size and shape of the flowers, which are larger than those of the more common buttercup.  (Named for its shape and colour.)

There are very short posts on Sue’s Trifles for the A to Z in April Challenge.
