A is for Ajuga

Welcome to my first post for the 2016 Blogging from A to Z in April Challenge.  My theme for this year is plants.

On Mayday 2015 I went round the garden with my phone camera snapping plants beginning with different letters of the alphabet.

The front garden in particular tends to become overgrown with plants battling for the available space.  One plant, which is definitely in the category of ground-cover is the ajuga (or bugle).  The leaves spread out from creeping stems and it sends up flowers in spikes.

The one in the photo is growing in a container. The flower is much bigger than the ones in the front garden. Perhaps the soil is better or deeper. Maybe it has more space. It certainly is in the sunshine for more hours each day. That reminds me of a well-known story, but…

…Sue’s words and pictures is not a faith blog. It is a place, where I intend to share the beauty of the world around me.  There are links to Sue’s Trifles, where faith sometimes dominates a post.  That blog is also signed up for the Blogging from A to Z in April Challenge.  The posts there are very short and light-hearted.

(A version of this post appeared previously on this blog for the revised A to Z Challenge.  After the first few letters I decided to wait until April.)
