The weather was fine with occasional light showers, when I travelled by train to Carlisle. After lunch I took a few photos in the grounds of the cathedral. On my way from the station to the cathedral some old buildings had caught my eye. I had not stopped to take a photo as I’d have been standing still on an island in the middle of a busy pedestrian crossing. I realised there would be other opportunities.
On my way back to the station, when the sun was low in the sky, I noticed a row of silver birch trees catching the light as I entered the station. I turned back to take the photo of these trees in front of the building I had looked at earlier.
