A Turneresque sunset

The photo I have chosen for this week’s challenge, Transition set by JEN H., is an unusual sunset.  The last few weeks here have been dominated by grey skies.  Just before the sun set on 1 December some gaps in the cloud gave the opportunity for this shot.

The artist Turner spent some time in this area.  The light in this shot reminds me of his paintings, although it is impossible to improve on nature, n’est-ce pas?

It is interesting to compare this shot with my entry for the sunset challenge and with Turner’s painting, which I blogged about previously.
